We have been staying busy here with all of the Holiday sessions!  What a fun time of year when we get a chance to reconnect with our clients, see how they have grown,  and capture some sweet new memories!  I will keep this post short and sweet so I can get back to some photo editing, but I had to share with you a few favorites from a recent shoot.  Enjoy!

Infant and Children Photography can be a tricky game.  Its a game where you play by their rules.  You can’t tell them ‘just a little longer’ when it comes to eating, sleeping, and peeing.  Believe me, we have tried and it never ends up pretty!   The emotions of a single shoot, especially with the young ones can go from A-Z in a single matter of moments.

Do they know that they are the star of the show and silently chuckle as you ooh and aww and do the most outrageous things for a simple grin.  I think… perhaps… they do.

Now Stephen and I both love photographing children.  Maybe its because we have 3 of our own and would take a dozen more, maybe because we can play and laugh for an hour or two and then send them on their way with mom and dad,  or maybe it is because we have never quite given up on Never Never Land.  Whatever the reason, there are just so many things about photographing children that we love.

Misty and Brad know how to have a good time.  So when they got married this summer it was no small venue, they chose to celebrate New Orleans style.  Good music, good dancing, good food, good friends= Great times!  From the masses that joined them for their Ceremony at Christ United Methodist Church and followed them to their Reception at Traditions Country Club, it was a joyous, fun filled celebration of ‘I Do.’

There is something uniquely special about bridal portraits.  You get a girl, do her hair and makeup, toss on a beautiful white dress with a pair of killer shoes, some flowers, maybe add some bling… and you have it… voila… instant bride.  Not only do you have a women looking her best, but she is in love, having fun doing something glamorous and girly, and you can’t help but get some sweet pictures.

We have been waiting to put up these pictures and now that Misty is officially a Missus, you can oohh and awww right along with us!

It is always sweet to photograph a bride and groom; just starting off their life together, star struck and just a little in love, beginning a journey that no one save God knows.  It is heart warming to hear the call or see the email come in a year or two down the road, ‘ We had a baby, can you take our pictures?’  To be asked to record not just a day, but a handful of monumental occasions,, is the greatest compliment a photographer can receive.

Nat and Amy, thanks for letting us be part of the journey, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and your sweet family.

What a busy time of year!  Weddings, engagements, bridals, graduations…  Our days begin early and end late and I admit at times we struggle to keep our priorities straight!  Before we started busy season we decided this year that Thursdays would be our ‘family’ night.  We read books, play trains, have family movie nights, head to the park to ride bikes or fly kites…  We wait anxiously all week for our Thursday nights when we can love on our family and enjoy our kids who are growing up way to0 fast.  Last Thursday, in honor of Mothers day, Stephen took some pictures of our children.  I couldn’t wait to edit them and share them with you.  What an infinitely precious family I have.  I am blessed beyond words for healthy, beautiful children who bring joy to my heart.

Looking back at where we started and where we are now, it is so fun to see how InPhocus has evolved and changed.  From better equipment, to enhanced editing, new style, and hundred upon hundreds of photo shoots… we have seen that it really does get better with age. I have been looking through our database and reminiscing of new births, first loves, and family fun.  Moments we have shared with our clients and have captured on film and thought basically one question…

Why isn’t this on the website?

Seriously, I don’t think we have updated our photos online in forever!  So from me to you, my sincere apologies.  I am working diligently to tackle the mound of images on our hard drive so that we can begin to share them with you.  Here is but a glimpse!

We love this sweet family!  They go to our church and love on our kids in the preschool.  This summer they decided our kids were so cute they needed to have one of their own.

Meet Caleb.  He is a doll- he likes to cuddle and looks at you with these enormous blue eyes.  We can’t wait till they have more incredibly adorable children for us to photograph!  Enjoy!

Well from all the calls we’ve been getting for engagement pictures, I would have to say that Love is most certainly in the air.  Now that winter is retreating and spring is emerging, the time for bridal and engagement pictures is at hand.  We are about to get into my favorite season in Texas.  After coming from Alaska, it was a difficult transition for me with the heat and the seemingly flat land,  all the ranches and cattle and general difference from home.  Then 6 years ago I saw my first Texas spring.  Who couldn’t fall in love with the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush that line the roads, the fresh green grass, and the vast expanse of sky and land.  I love to hear the birds chirping merrily along and feel the warm breezes that carry the smell of flowers in bloom here, I love the red sun setting in a blue sky.  Love is in the air.  We are booking up quickly, call or email us to reserve your date! ~ Emily

Kirk and Angela are a growing family who have gone from raising cattle to raising boys.  These boys will grow up knowing how to rope a steer, shoot some deer, fish, eat a man sized steak, and say “yes ma’am”.  We are so loving getting to know this sweet family a little better,and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

This session was mixed with family fun and some sweet one on one time with Hank.  Thanks for letting us be a part of it.
